We're back to the Bay Area from a recent Monterey trip, but I'm still thinking about a burrito we ate there! 😂
Recommended by our server at dinner at a different restaurant the night before, El Charrito Express operates during the daytime out of Alejandro's, a restaurant that is open at night on Alvarado Street in downtown Monterey, CA. It's actually quite a smart and efficient use of space instead of letting the restaurant sit empty and unused during the daytime!
To get here, follow the signs and access the place from the back parking lot of Alejandro's.

It is a very unassuming entrance to say the least, but that's what makes these hidden gems so great.
Here is the menu. My hubby said "wow $7 for a burrito" out loud (as in that's a very good deal) and a customer said "yeah but you never just spend $7" lol. It's that good! There was a bunch of customers coming in and going out. They looked like regulars on a mission who knew what they wanted.
Chipotle-style, pick what you want in your burrito/taco and they will make it for you. They will offer you a sample if you're not sure which one you want.

Lol sorry we didn't get a prettier picture, we were too busy chomping it down!! There is no seating inside but we happily enjoyed our burrito in the parking lot, just outside the restaurant.
Everything from the tortilla to the filling tasted so fresh and delicious. It was perfect!!!
Don't take my word for it though, give this place a shot yourself!! Enjoy!! I can't wait to go back.
