When I'm near Stanford mall, sometimes I'm not particularly craving anything there, so I was excited to find out about another option called Cafe Arbor which is actually like a cafeteria style option for Stanford employees but open to the public! It's located on the bottom floor of the Stanford center for Academic Medicine.
Here's what they had on the day we went: salad, pizza, burger, and a couple other entrees. They set out an example and the pricing is reasonable, between $15-20. It's more expensive than fast food but seemed cheaper than other options at the mall.
We got Japanese curry stew, this was really surprisingly good - the best dish we had. Very flavorful. Just wish it came with a bowl of white rice on the side.
I got the shrimp skewers with quinoa and zucchini, generous portion and flavorful. It felt healthy too with the vegetables and quinoa. Nice that they had the chimmichurri sauce on it too.
Hubby got the sloppy Joe burger with tater tots, honestly it was okay. The burger was a little too much bread and not enough sloppy joe filling and the cheese wasn't melted all the way. The tater tots were good though, we gobbled those up.
There's plenty of indoor or outdoor seating, and honestly it was good, fresh food for an affordable price. We got 3 dishes amongst 2 people for less than $40. There's also coffee drinks too if you want to order that with your meal.
It's only open from 7am - 2pm on weekdays, so basically a weekday lunch option. I believe Stanford employees do get a small discount too.
Parking is a little hard to come by because there's a lot of permit parking, but there's also visitor parking next to the building.
