We were headed down to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for an impromptu family day, and didn't know where we would eat lunch. After some quick searching, we were happy to discover Cafe Brasil in Santa Cruz and decided to stop there for lunch.
It was yummy!! Tasted like home cooking. This place has fresh juices, breakfast food, and Brazilian dishes.
Tip: on our drive down, we joined the wait-list on Yelp, so then we barely had to wait for our table once we got there! Parking is straightforward, either behind the restaurant or in the residential area one block down.
Honestly a lot of the menu looked good so it was hard to pick. The only thing that was disappointing was that they didn't have Brazilian cheese balls on the menu - sad!
For appetizer, we got the Coxinha de Galinha (Chicken). They're like fried potato and chicken balls. Tasty! We should have ordered 2 orders!
For entrees, we got
Kids lunch plate of rice, black beans, and chicken
Feijoada Plate (get the Feijoada Completa if you want to share it between 2 adults)
Chicken strogonoff

These 2 traditional Brazilian dishes were sooo good (and also so unlike other dishes we usually can get in restaurants in the Bay Area). The sauce on the chicken and mushroom was amazing and I loved the shoestring potatoes too! Anyone remember the Pik-Nik shoestring potatoes they used to sell at the grocery stores when we were growing up? Nostalgia!
Anyways, I highly recommend this place if you're in the Santa Cruz area! Service is friendly too.
Also grab yourself a Brazilian chocolate on your way out for an after lunch treat. They're 50¢ each near the cash register. 🍬
