Three weeks ago, Callao Peruvian Restaurant had their grand opening. They have been soft opened for about 4 months.
Just stopped by for lunch yesterday for a lunch with some girlfriends and it was amazing!! It was delicious and we were so stuffed afterwards.
The decor is very cute outside and inside and there's plenty of seating. It's not very crowded yet, until more people find out about this place! It's a little hidden and several blocks away from the main downtown Los Altos area. It's on 1st Street, right next to Draeger's supermarket and across from Halo blowdry bar.
The music is vibing and the drinks are good! There's also a private party room in the back for about 50 people.
Ok now onto what we ate and drank! For drinks, I had the chicha morada which is a purple corn drink (non alcoholic), it's my favorite thing to get at Peruvian restaurants. My friends tried the West Coast Cooler and the Pisco Sour Classic (which she said was really good, and she's Peruvian!).
Here's the food we got: Causa de pollo (a potato dough thing with avocado and chicken), yucca fries, a beef heart dish, lomo saltado (beef with crispy potatoes), aji de pollo (shredded chicken in yellow chili sauce), crispy half chicken with potatoes and fries rice, plus affogatos for dessert!
Everything was good! My favorites were the fried potatoes and the aji de pollo dish (creamy!).
I highly recommend and wish them luck on their new restaurant!!
