I love a good egg tart, especially Portuguese egg tarts that have that caramelized top. If you're also a fan, check out Pastelaria Adega in Downtown San Jose about 5-10 mins walking distance from San Pedro Square. There's not much else around it, but it's totally worth the walk for one of these.

They have all sorts of flavors, but I like the classic egg tart called Pastel de Nata. I caught them when they were still making them and about to come out of the oven, which makes them all the more tasty and droolworthy.

They also have other Portuguese treats - both sweet and savory, like this Pastel de Bacalhau which is a fried codfish thing (pictured above) that's also yummy.

And you can't just buy one, you need to buy some for your friends and family too!! So I ordered half a dozen. And they are just as tasty, buttery, and flaky, when you warm them up at home in a toaster oven.

Warning: they don't last long. It would make a great gift to bring to a potluck too.

Check out this Portuguese Bakery and there's also ADEGA Restaurant as well (which is apparently a Michelin starred restaurant), but I haven't been there yet.
