Food Hall in Emeryville: The Public Market

Updated: Oct 8

Ever since I first visited the food hall at Faneuil Hall in Boston, I have been looking for one in the Bay Area. And look no further than The Public Market in Emeryville - ta da!

You can think of a hall like a food court with lots of stalls and open seating in the middle. Unfortunately we couldn't try all of them but there are some really tasty looking options from a whole range of cuisines. What I also like about it is that it seems like independent mom and pop shop places, nothing like a big chain restaurant though Super Duper Burgers is there.

Here's the list of 18+ artisan food eateries:

This one caught my eye: Paradita Eatery, which is Peruvian cuisine. Many things looked good on the menu, but I opted for the bowl of Aji Chicken, their most popular dish. Ohhh myyy goodness, it was so good, from the first bite to the last. It's a stewed chicken in Peruvian aji Amarillo pepper and cheese sauce with potato, olive, and egg. This combination was seriously divine!

We also got tacu tacu, a rice and beans dish for the little one and this is quite flavorful! It was gobbled up!

Their pollo a la brasa, empanadas, and skewers also looked good!

Meanwhile, my hubby went for the Konarq Indian food stall and got the lamb and some garlic naan for me :) with some tandoori chicken. It was good, but I liked the chicken stew the best.

Funnily enough, the little one liked the rice and beans dish from the Peruvian place with the lamb from the Indian place. So you can mix and match when you're here! And everyone in your party can order different cuisines while still enjoying it together. 😁

As the place got more crowded for lunch, we noticed the C Casa Mexican place was quite popular, as well as the Nabi Q Korean BBQ place, and a good amount of people at the Pig in a Pickle BBQ place. The juice from the Juice House Co. looked refreshing and the cashew ice cream from Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery looked tempting too!

All in all, lots of good choices and the hardest part is deciding which one to go for! But why settle for one when you can nibble on dishes from multiple of them?! We took a samosa home from Konarq too, the dipping sauce was good.

Enjoy!
