We bought a hot and steamy round loaf of sourdough bread and proceeded to chow down on it in the car with some butter, before we could even leave the parking spot.
New discovery alert! Raymond's Sourdough Bread has opened earlier this year in San Mateo! It's located on El Camino Real.
They have fresh sourdough and sweet French bread in loafs, baguettes, and boules, both sliced and unsliced. They don't have too many out at once because they bake them fresh throughout the day! So a good number of the loafs on the shelf when I came (around 4pm on Saturday) were very warm and fresh!
On an adjacent wall, they have yesterday's bread available at a discounted price. As tempting as it was, I couldn't pass up hot fresh-out-of-the-oven bread.
They also have other croissants and pastries there:
And what also piqued my interest was this fridge of Bake at Home items! They have dinner rolls, baguettes, sandwich rolls, and Dutch crunch Rolls that are par baked (partially baked) and frozen and then you finish baking them at home, so you can have it piping hot whenever you want!
If our freezer wasn't already full, I would have loaded up on bread here. 😆 But I did pick up this 6-pack of gigantic Dutch crunch rolls. If you freeze it, defrost for 30 mins at room temperature and then bake it in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 mins. Alternatively you could keep it in your fridge and then follow the same baking instructions (no defrosting needed of course) but we definitely can't finish that much bread in a short period.
Suffice to say, we will be back very soon!! I am thinking this bread would be great for Potlucks, Thanksgiving, Xmas dinner etc.. and the frozen breads to have handy in our freezer.
Update: we made the Dutch crunch rolls with some leftover tri trip from dinner. Hubby also made some chimmichurri sauce to go with it. Superb!! Highly recommend this bread.
