Upon reading about the love story behind Pizzeria Cardamomo and how Chef Momo Farouq had run a pizzeria in Lake Como, Italy for 35 years before opening up shop in Redwood City, I knew I wanted to try this place!
My hubby and I headed over for a lovely lunch date and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience.
You could taste how fresh the ingredients are and the medley of flavors just blended very well together and in new ways that I hadn't tried before. For example, a pizza inspired by the chefs Moroccan roots with figs, almonds, ground beef, and cinnamon. This flavor was my favorite!
Then the Magica, with ground beef, potatoes, mint and honey. Wow never had potatoes in pizza before! The crust is super thin and light! Not heavy at all.
The arugula salad with the pear and walnuts and parm reggiano was mind blowingly good. I wish there was more of it. Funnily enough, it may have been my fave dish.
For an appetizer we also got the arancini. We had it in Rome and it was soo good that we haven't been able to find anything as good in the states. But this one at Pizzeria Cardamomo was really good!! I would say it tasted like the one in Italy! To pack more punch, you could add a few drops of the homemade chili oil on the table onto it. Mmm so good, I savored every bite!

We chatted with the chef's wife, co-owner of the restaurant Sarika Batra and she was lovely and welcoming as well. They aim to make everything from scratch, and you can tell by the quality of the dishes!
Even though the Bay Area is far from Italy, this restaurant is like a little slice of Italy with the vibes and flavors of it. I've never been to Lake Como, but have heard how many famous couples have wed there (George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, etc..).
There is something romantic about sharing really fresh, delicious food and exploring new tastes with someone you love, and this place is perfect for that. 💕
Wishing this restaurant lots of success in its new home in Redwood City and I think it won't be long until many more people find out about this hidden gem!
