For spicy lovers: Numbing spicy BBQ fish fillet at Home Eat

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

New restaurant find - this place was packed on a Friday night! You know the saying, if there's lot of Chinese people at the restaurant, you know it's authentic. Home Eat looked pretty authentic to me. I believe it's from the same owners as Fashion Wok in downtown Sunnyvale because the waiters/waitresses are all wearing t-shirts that say Fashion Wok on the back. Gotta love the names of these Chinese restaurants.

There's a row of already-made dishes (like Panda Express or Ranch 99 deli) so you could get a bento-style combo of rice/noodles with 2 entrees for about $10. Or you could just order single side dishes. The food was pretty good and a good bargain for that price.

You could also order hot dishes off the menu, so we did that too. We got this crispy fried fish dish - 5 stars, so good even though it was very spicy. I downed lots of water and white rice with it.

We also got this pork special hot pot thing. They have a bunch of monthly specials. It was pretty good but I was mostly focused on the fish, ha!

Here's only part of the menu that shows the fish fillet - $36.75 for the dish and it would feed several people.

In hindsight, I probably wouldn't have filled up so much on the combo rice plate, but oh wells, I was starving when I got there. We'll definitely be back and bring our families too. I already told them about this place!

Also there's a water fountain in the front of the restaurant and kids loved looking at it (even though there was only 1 fish in it). I actually spent most of dinner standing at the fountain with our little one while my hubby ate, and then we switched off >.< ah parenting life.

The other impressive thing about this place was that it had 5 stars on Yelp! I rarely see that. Go try!
