When we're craving dim sum, we like going to Koi Palace because it's delicious (though pricey), so it's good for nice occasions. We know there will be a big crowd waiting, so it's best to go early. We were able to go at 10:30am today and luckily snagged a table without a wait (I think they open at 10am). Otherwise soon after, you get a number and then there's a crowd waiting outside the lobby.
You order from a menu and the wait isn't too long for the food. This is only a portion of what we ordered because we started chowing down after this and the dishes kept coming and coming.
Once you're stuffed and done with dim sum, you can go downstairs in the plaza to the back of the building where they have 85C Bakery - hello egg tarts. :)
Koi Palace in Milpitas is located in an Asian plaza next to the Ranch 99 plaza off McCarthy Blvd. The other locations are in Daly City (the original I think?) and Dublin.
