Save money by making your own hand soap

We used to use Softsoap but that was very drying for our hands. So we switched to something that seemed more natural like Mrs. Meyer's hand soap or Method hand wash.

Regardless though, these bottles of soaps are expensive! Like $5 a bottle or maybe $3-$4 when on sale. Even if you buy a big container and refill the soap bottles yourself, the Mrs. Meyers soap refill container is only 33 oz and almost $10! It only fills up the small bottles like 3x.

When I was learning about ways to live more sustainably and eco-friendly, I took this class where the instructor shared that we can make our own soap from Dr. Bronner's. Mind blown. (I guess I may be late to the game here and maybe everyone else already knows about this.)

So I bought 1 big container of Dr. Bronner's baby unscented pure castile liquid soap which was about $16 and then got some reusable glass soap dispensers.

You can look up the recommended ratios online. I found that each website recommends something slightly different and it also depends if you have a foaming soap dispenser or not. At this point, I just eyeball it. It's a mixture of some soap and then the rest is warm water! You shake it up and you're good to go! Soap bottle refilled at a tiny fraction of the cost. My bottle of Dr. Bronner's has lasted me forever!!

Also P.S. Whole Foods is having a sale on Dr. Bronner's right now! 28% off if you have Amazon prime, so that big bottle I bought would be less than $12. Good deal!

Cheers to clean hands!
