Sidewalk Grilled Hot Dogs in Palo Alto on Sundays near California Ave Farmers Market

Updated: May 30

On the way back to our car from the Palo Alto Farmers Market on Sunday, we happened to pass by a guy grilling hot dogs on the sidewalk and stopped because it smelled good! Also this is not like NYC or Boston where you often find street vendors grilling away, so we stopped to find out more!

Turns out he is the owner of Bistro Elan, a cute little French restaurant on Birch Street (cross street of California Ave). On Sundays, the restaurant is closed, but he says he gets restless so he recently decided to do this pop-up hot dog stand on Sundays! He sets up his grill on the outdoor patio in front of the restaurant.

He's got hot dogs, hot links, grilled onions, grilled peppers, sauerkraut, buns, ketchup, mustard, and celery salt!

They're $10 a pop and my hubby and I each got one. The regular hot dog tastes alright but the hot link one tastes really good with all the toppings! 😋

There's a couple tables to sit at to eat too. And you can also order beer/wine if you want. I actually ate it with a mango lassi from Zareen's several blocks away lol.

This was a fun unexpected surprise on our walk! If you don't find anything to your fancy on California Ave or at the farmers market, stop by for a hot dog!
