Wood-fired Pizza and Best Tiramisu Ever at Doppio Zero Restaurant in Mountain View

Today was the 10 year anniversary of Doppio Zero, which is an Italian restaurant in downtown Mountain View (and other locations throughout the Bay too.) In honor of their anniversary, everything on the menu today was 50% off: food, drinks, even bottles of wine!


We went all out and ordered A LOT and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Here's what we got.


Appetizers: Calamari, Polpo (octopus), Beets. All of it was soo good. Calamari was my favorite. The beets were uniquely combined with stracciatella cheese and hazelnuts for a satisfying crunch. Really tasty!





For entrees: Marechiaro (squid ink pasta) with scallops and clams. Very into this! And two pizzas - Doppio Zero and Margherita with salami added. Our server Fernando said that the Marechiaro and the Doppio Zero is a top combo that people usually order together. I can see why!!



The Doppio Zero pizza was really good! The chunks of burrata and prosciutto were chef's kiss. And the crust was really thin on the bottom of the pizza, but also so fluffy, airy, and chewy (in a good way) along the edge of the pizza.



Honestly, I was too full to try the Margherita lol. But my hubby enjoyed it! Btw these pizza slices are GIANT!



Another winning recommendation from Fernando was to order a pour of Japanese whiskey called Yamakazi 18. It is normally $100 per drink 😱 but with the discount today it was $50. Still pricey and definitely a big splurge(!), but was the best whiskey my husband has ever had and probably will ever have. Apparently the maker is not making this whiskey anymore, so if you look online, it's hella expensive to buy! And the restaurant only had 1 bottle left. Anyways, I'm sure that spoiled my husband and he will now be forever thinking about it. He says it was so smooth going down and he savored every last sip of it. I should've taken a pic earlier but here's the last sip of the drink 😆



Okay by the end of dinner, we were soooo stuffed. And yet when asked about the dessert menu, we caved in and decided to take a look. 😂 We ordered the tiramisu and oh my heavens, it was the best tiramisu I ever had!! Fluffy and the cream was decadent.



At this point, we were incredibly full but soo happy from such an amazing dinner 🥰. The service was top notch too, very attentive service from Fernando who guided us with all our menu selections and the rest of the staff was very helpful too. The food also came out surprisingly quickly, even though the whole place was packed! Excellent food and excellent service. I recommend all the things we ordered, especially the calamari, squid ink pasta, Doppio Zero pizza, and tiramisu!


We will definitely be back! In the meantime, we will be enjoying our leftover pizza and binging some TV show.
